Location Buenos Aires

The city is located by the Río de la Plata, on the east coast of South America. The climate is mild. The annual average temperature reaches 16.9º C. In January the highest average temperature reaches 23.7º C while the lowest temperatures occur in July and average 10.5º .Even in winter, temperatures rarely go down to 0º.

 
Florida street The city and the surrounding area have a population of 11.5 million. Buenos Aires is the largest metropolitan area in Argentina and the second biggest in South America after Sao Paulo. Although population of Spanish and Italian descent predominate, there are also descendants of immigrants of many other European countries and the East. In spite of their origins, people from Buenos Aires speak Spanish almost exclusively, and the majority of them have adopted the Catholic religion. German immigrants speak a mixture of Spanish and German known as Belgranodeutsch.

From the point of view of culture, the city has a lot to offer. The most famous theatre in the city is the Teatro Colón, one of the most renowned Opera Houses in the world. There is also a great music and theatre scene. According to official information, there are 173 theatres in Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires is also world known as the capital of Tango. The Tango Festival and the International Tango Festival are held in the city every year. The most important tango artists start performing by late February or early in March.

Cemetery Recoleta The biggest tourist attractions are Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Peron is buried, the Obelisco on 9 de Julio Avenue, one of the widest streets in the world, the old port (known as Puerto Madero) and its modernized silos, San Telmo, the old historical neighbourhood with its beautiful streets and the antiquities market, the ex Central Market in Abasto, today a large shopping mall, and the bohemian La Boca neighbourhood, very famous for its coloured houses and also because tango is considered to have been born there..
